Foundation Stone of the college was laid in 1955
Formerly known as the State College of Education, Govt. College of Education is a premier institution imparting education in this part of the country. The foundation stone of the College was laid in 1955 by the then Chief Minister of PEPSU State Sh. Bhrish Bhan. The campus was inaugurated by the then Home Minister Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant.
The college offers B.Ed.(one year) and M.Ed. (one year) regular courses. The intake of these courses is 200 seats and 25 seats respectively as approved by the NCTE.
Located in Sylvan surroundings, the college has spacious classrooms, laboratories, workshops and well stacked library with more than 30,000 titles. Facilities for indoor and outdoor games, sports and fitness centre are available. Separate hostel accommodation for 140 girls and 120 boys is available. Backup water and electricity facilities are provided.
